서강대학교 경제대학에 오신 것을 환영합니다.
경제대학은 1960년 서강대학교 개교와 함께 경제학과로 출발하여 1990년 단과대학으로 격상된 후 지금까지 이어오고 있습니다. 1968년에는 일반대학원 경제학과를 설립하였고 1991년에는 경제 전문 인력을 양성하는 경제대학원(구 경제정책대학원)을 설립하여 운영하고 있습니다. 현재 경제대학에는 1,000명, 일반대학원 경제학과에는 100명, 경제대학원에는 300명이 넘는 학생들이 학업에 정진하고 있습니다.
'서강학파'로 불리는 경제대학 교수진은 현대 경제학에 근거한 실용적 연구와 선구적 교육으로 한국경제의 발전과 인재 양성에 기여해 온 점을 널리 인정받고 있습니다. 탁월한 연구 역량을 바탕으로 한국의 주요 경제 현안과 구조적 문제들을 분석하고 해결 방안을 제시하는 등 사회적 역할을 다하고 있습니다. 경제대학 동문들은 금융기관, 기업, 정부 법조계, 대학, 연구 기관 등 다양한 분야에서 활동하며 '신서강학파'라는 이름으로 맹활약하고 있습니다.

Welcome to the College of Economics at Sogang University.
The College of Economics traces its origins to the Department of Economics, established alongside the founding of Sogang University in 1960. It was elevated to a standalone college in 1990 and has continued to grow ever since. In 1968, the Graduate School of Economics was established, followed by the founding of the Graduate School of Economics and Finance (formerly the Graduate School of Economic Policy) in 1991 to cultivate highly skilled economic professionals. Today, the College of Economics is home to approximately 1,000 undergraduate students, with over 100 students in the Graduate School of Economics and more than 300 students in the Graduate School of Economics and Finance.
The faculty of the College of Economics, often referred to as the “Sogang School,” has earned widespread recognition for its contributions to Korea’s economic development and the cultivation of talented individuals through practical research grounded in modern economic theory and pioneering education. Building on outstanding research capabilities, the faculty actively analyzes major economic issues and structural challenges facing Korea and proposes effective solutions, fulfilling its vital role in society. Alumni of the College of Economics are actively engaged across a wide range of fields—including finance, industry, government, law, academia, and research institutions—continuing this legacy as part of the “New Sogang School.”
The College of Economics will not rest on its past achievements but will continue striving to evolve as an institution of education and research that responds to the changing demands of the times. With the continued interest and support of our alumni and students, we are confident that the College will further develop into a leading institution that nurtures the talent required by a new and evolving society.
